Lionel Trains are the Top Choice

It is not a question of should I buy a model train set for my son, it’s a questions of which brand to buy? Model trains have been on the market since the early 19 hundreds but some of those brands have been around a long time. The main reason for this is the quality that is built into their trains. For those of you that do not know how to answer a question like this don’t worry, it’s easy. Go online and pull up the Google search bar and type in model trains. Then look on the page that comes up and what you will find is the top two makers of model trains and their brand names are Lionel trains and Bachmann trains. You will find that these two makers show up in about 75% of the searches performed on the internet. You will find Lionel trains are just a little more popular than the Bachmann but not by much. The reason for this is Lionel goes back to its start in September of 1900 building high quality model trains. After a short spell of being out of business the brand name was revived and quickly jumped back to the top of the charts as being a leading model train maker. Lionel makes many popular Christmas trains like The Polar Express, Lionel Christmas Tinplate Train and the Lionel North Pole Central Christmas Train. These model railroad train sets are the most popular around the holidays. Bachmann model trains are also very popular but fall into second place being the second biggest maker of model trains. Not to be discounted they do produce high quality brand name trains. Bachmann got a much later start in the industry and came on the scene in 1946. Their claim to fame is their large product line of mostly the HO scale train sets. One very popular model is Thomas Tank Engine train sets and the Santa Fe Flyer is a couple of their best sellers. HO scale being their most popular they do also make N and O scale for the larger model train crowd. The top brand Lionel along with Bachmann make up better than 80% of the model train sales in the world today. With many happy customers on both sides you would not go wrong with either brand. Lionel being the favored around the holidays has a lot to do with the popular movies that families love to watch like The Polar Express and the American Choo Choo Christmas. |
